The Meiental

A Brief Introduction

The Meiental with its pristine romantic nature is a side valley of the Urner Reuss valley. It lies on an average altitude of 1350 meter above sea level and is part of the community of Wassen. One drives from East to West throught the valley.

The valley has seven inhabited hamlets called Hussen, Dörfli, Eisten, Kapelle, Aderbogen, Fürlauwi and Färnigen and its most famous mountains are the Fünffingerstöcke.

To reach the valley take the exit for Wassen from the A2 (Basel-Chiasso) and follow signs for Wassen. You can reach Meien in only 10 minutes from the autobahn.

During summertime the road over the Sustenpass is open. It connects the two cantons Uri and Bern. There is also a bus route over the pass and the entire year there is the possibility to take a taxi.
